General Store Cooperative‘s flagship cafe and marketplace, think “mini-Chelsea Market,” hosts a variety of locally-owned businesses under its roof, including Good Bottle Refill Shop, Three Daughter’s Baking Co., Love Where You Live by Mrs. Meshugga, The Maplewood Wheelhouse, and an outpost for South Orange favorites Kitchen a la Mode and Sadie’s.
GSC will also continue to make a rotating selection of wares available from its network of local makers, artists, and indie businesses, and will run a full-service espresso bar featuring single-origin coffees, kombucha on tap, and cold brew, and non-alcoholic cocktails on evenings we’re open late. The coffee bar and kitchen are still under construction but the retail shop is open for business with a nice selection of grab and go baked goods and some kegged beverages (kombucha and nitro) available.
When the full espresso bar opens, we will offer customers the option to become cooperative members and receive discounts on coffee and reusable cup rentals. That’s right, we said cup rentals! If you forget your reusable cup (for iced or hot drinks) you can rent one from us and drink your to-go coffee with no guilt! Return the cup within 30 days for a refund (minus a small cleaning fee), or keep it and refill every time you come in.
Soft Opening Hours: Wednesdays 10a-5p, Thursdays 10a-8p, Fridays 10a-5p, Saturdays 10a-5p, Sundays 10a-4p.
Once we’ve finished building our kitchen and espresso bar, we will start opening at 7am on weekdays and 8am on weekends. See you soon!
